Drive technology is a central, indispensable component of modern, industrial processes. Without it, conveyor belts wouldn't run, robots wouldn't be able to move their arms, and tooling machines couldn't manufacture parts. It encompasses all technologies and systems that are required for the movement and control of machines and plants and can be found in all industries including the automotive & manufacturing industries, logistics & material handling, and the energy sector.

For as diverse as the areas of application are, so are the requirements that the cables and wires used in drive technology must meet. They must be mechanically resilient, temperature resistant, flexible yet strong, as well as be both highly resistant to chemicals and shielded to exhibit high electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), among other things. Since drive technology typically involves flexible applications, the cables are more often subjected to tension, pressure, bending, torsion, and vibrational forces.
